RISE Summer Internship Program 2025 offers a fully funded opportunity to participate in research internships at top German universities and research institutions. RISE Germany offers summer research internships in Germany for undergraduate students from North America, Great Britain, and Ireland. In their internships, students are carefully matched with doctoral students and researchers (only from universities of applied sciences, UAS) – whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. Interns receive a monthly stipend to cover everyday costs. About 300 scholarships are available each year. RISE Germany is supported by the Federal Foreign Office and by many partners.
RISE Germany internships were first offered in 2005 to applicants from the United States and Canada, with the program extended to the United Kingdom in 2009 and Ireland in 2018. With the DAAD internship for international students, interns can pursue a summer internship and make their summers more productive. All interns will also attend the three-day RISE Germany meeting in Heidelberg and receive a travel allowance. DAAD provides students with a monthly stipend for three months to help cover living expenses. Host universities, universities of applied sciences (UAS), and institutes provide housing assistance and match students with Ph.D. student mentors or researchers (only UAS)Participants collaborate with PhD students in STEM fields, gaining practical lab experience. The program runs during the summer, lasting up to 12 weeks.
