CATS Fellowship Programs 2025 in Germany

​The CATS Fellowship Programs 2025-2026 in Germany offer a unique opportunity for researchers and practitioners focusing on Turkey-related issues. The Centre for Applied Turkey Studies (CATS) at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin offers fellowships for 2025-2026 to researchers, think tank professionals, and practitioners. PhD candidates with strong research backgrounds are also eligible. Working languages are English and/or German.

The CATS Fellowship Programs support independent research on Turkey’s domestic and international dynamics, particularly its role in EU, NATO, and regional affairs. Fellows will collaborate with CATS and SWP researchers, with opportunities to publish in peer-reviewed formats. Research should be policy-relevant, and applicants with strong publications and experience will be prioritized.   • Monthly grant: €2,800 – €3,000, based on seniority
  • Research trip budget is included
  • Travel costs to/from Berlin are fully covered
