To apply, you must:

  • Candidates must be a citizen of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • Currently enrolled in a doctoral program or about to enroll in a university.
  • The thesis work should be relevant to CERN and your PhD degree.
  • PhD degree should be awarded by your own university.
  • Academic arrangements will be discussed between your university thesis supervisor and your CERN supervisor.
  • Candidates should have a strong command of English or French.
  • The 3-year contract duration does not limit the time you have to complete your PhD.
