Deakin University Scholarships Eligibilities
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Students must be domestic or international students enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program at Deakin University.
- Applicants must have completed at least four years of tertiary education.
- They need to have scored at least 80% or an equivalent grade in the research component of their previous studies or demonstrate a comparable level of academic achievement.
- Must meet the minimum entry requirements outlined in the HDR Admission, Selection, and Enrolment Procedure.
- Students receiving an RTP or DUPRS Stipend cannot have additional income exceeding 75% of their stipend rate if that income is meant to cover general living costs.
- Income unrelated to their studies or not intended for living expenses is excluded from this rule.
- Applicants are not eligible for an RTP fee offset if they are already receiving a similar award or scholarship from the Commonwealth that covers HDR fees.
- HDR students currently enrolled can apply for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend. The Faculty/Institute will assess their applications. Students cannot apply if they have completed over 3 years of a doctoral course or 2 years of a master’s course (or the part-time equivalent).
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Complete a research project with a thesis that accounts for at least 25% of a full-time year at Australian Qualifications Framework level 8 or 9.
- Achieve an Upper Second Class Honours (H2A) grade with a minimum score of 70%.
Master’s degree by research
- Complete a research project with a thesis that makes up at least 25% of a full-time study year at level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework. Earn a grade of 65% or higher, equivalent to a Lower Second Class Honours (H2B).
