FIAS Fellowship Programme 2026-27 in France: Overview

The FIAS Fellowship Programme is open to researchers from all fields in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and related areas. FIAS Fellowship Programme invites high-level international scholars to develop innovative research projects at top French research institutions. The program is fully funded and offers 28 fellowships for the 2026-27 academic year, hosted across seven prestigious Institutes for Advanced Study in France. The Application Deadline is July 16, 2025, 6:00 pm (Paris, France time).

Fellowships are hosted at seven leading Institutes for Advanced Study (IAS) in France:

  • Aix-Marseille Université (Iméra)-7
  • Cergy (CYAS)-3
  • Loire Valley (Le Studium – Orléans-Tours)-2
  • Lyon (Collegium de Lyon)-3
  • Montpellier (Mak’it)-2
  • Nantes (IAS Nantes)-4
  • Paris (IAS Paris)-7

Each institute provides a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment and strong connections to local research centers.

  • Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH): All disciplines are eligible.
  • Interdisciplinary Research: Projects at the interface of SSH with other fields (e.g., arts, sciences) are encouraged.
  • Open to Artists: PhD-holding artists whose work intersects with SSH are welcome.
  • Allowance: Minimum €2,200/month net
  • Two options:
    • Work contract (with full social coverage)
    • Paid leave (with insurance top-up and salary arrangements)
  • Other benefits:
    • Support with relocation and logistics
