The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program, launched by the Hungarian Government, offers international students fully-funded opportunities to pursue bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, non-degree, and doctoral studies at top Hungarian universities. The Scholarship Program offers full degree and partial study opportunities in a three-cycle degree structure (Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programs), mostly in English.  Every year round about 5,000 scholarships are given to the most talented student from around the world. Here is the most prestigious opportunity for all students from all over the world to Study in Hungary. It covers tuition, accommodation, living allowance, and health insurance. The program aims to promote cultural exchange and foster international cooperation. Application deadlines typically fall in January. (This year 15 January 2025)

The scholarship is available for 65+ Hungarian higher education institutions, including:

  • Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest, Hungary, Ranking: Top 600 globally)
  • University of Debrecen (Debrecen, Hungary, Top 700)
  • Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Budapest, Hungary, Top 800)

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship offers a wide range of academic programs, including:

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Nationality: Must be a citizen of an eligible country (check the official list on the website).
  • Educational Requirements:
    • For bachelor’s programs, a high school certificate or equivalent is required.
    • For Master’s programs: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    • For PhD: Master’s degree and a research plan.
  • Age Requirements:
    • Undergraduate: At least 18 years old by August of the enrollment year.
    • No specific upper age limit, but applicants should not exceed normal study timelines.
  • Language Proficiency: Proof of English or Hungarian proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent).
  • Health Condition: A valid medical certificate confirming that the applicant is free from communicable diseases.
  • Nominations: You must receive a nomination or endorsement from the applicant’s home country (check your country’s designated sending partner).

  • Accommodation (if not in dorms): €150–300 per month (private apartment/shared flat)
  • Food: €150–200 per month
  • Local Transportation: €10–20 (student pass)
  • Utilities and Internet: €50–80 per month (if renting privately)
  • Miscellaneous (entertainment, leisure, etc.): €100–150 per month

In total, international students usually spend €400–600 per month, making Hungary an affordable study destination.
