The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship (LExS) is open to outstanding international students from non-EU/EEA countries pursuing a full-time master’s program. The application deadlines are 1 October 2024 (for programs starting in February 2025) and 1 February 2025 (for programs starting in September 2025).     Applicants need to provide the following:

    1. Master’s Program Application: Completed through the Leiden University online portal.
    2. Motivation Letter: Specific to the LExS scholarship, explain your academic achievements and future goals.
    3. Academic Transcripts: To demonstrate excellence in previous studies, typically placing the applicant in the top 10% of their program.
    4. Proof of English Proficiency: IELTS/TOEFL or other equivalent tests.
    5. Copy of Passport
    6. Any additional documents as specified by the program of choice

    • Demonstrate academic excellence with strong grades and achievements.

    Living costs in the Netherlands can vary depending on lifestyle and housing options. The estimated monthly breakdown is:

    • Accommodation: €500–800 (shared or private)
    • Food and Groceries: €200–300
    • Health Insurance: €100–120
    • Transportation: €40–80 (public transport or bicycle-related costs)
    • Miscellaneous (clothing, leisure, etc.): €150–200

    Total monthly expenses range between €1,000–1,500, which students should budget accordingly
