The NPU President Scholarship is awarded to outstanding international students pursuing undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an, China. NPU President Scholarship 2024 is an excellent opportunity for international students to study in China on a scholarship. The main aim of this Chinese Government Scholarship is to create an environment that nurtures knowledge and encourages students to excel in their academic pursuits. The prestigious NPU President Scholarship is offered at three different levels. Coverage of tuition fees, monthly living allowances, and accommodation for those who achieve the highest level. Moreover, the second-level winners receive coverage of tuition fees, while third-level winners of the NPU Scholarship get coverage of 50% of the tuition fee.

Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) holds strong positions in various global and national rankings. This Scholarship covers tuition and provides various benefits to foster international talent. Undergraduate application:

  • Second batch: February 16, 2025 – March 15, 2025 (Computer Science close on March 15)

Postgraduate application:
  • The first batch: November 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024, 17:00 (GMT+8).
  • -Application submission after 17:00 (GMT+8) is automatically regarded as 2nd batch application.
  • The second batch: January 1, 2025 –  January 31, 2025, 17:00 (GMT+8).
  • -Application submission after 17:00 (GMT+8) is automatically regarded as 3rd batch application.
  • The third batch: February 1, 2025 – February 28, 2025, 17:00 (GMT+8).

While the NPU President Scholarship supports a wide range of study areas, particularly focused on fields where NPU excels:

  • The “NPU President Scholarship” is leveled into three levels.
  • 1. First level winners are exempt from tuition fee, accommodation fee, and living allowances are provided.
  • Living allowances:
  •   Undergraduate: 1500RMB/month*12months
  •   Master: 2000RMB/month*12months
  •   PhD: 3500RMB/month
  • 2.Second level winners are exempt from tuition fee.
  • 3.Third level winners are exempt from 50% tuition fee.
  • Eventually, Applicants will have the chance to study in China and experience Chinese culture, traditions, and language.

  • NPU accepts international standardized tests such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB/GED or regional high school graduation examination.

Bachelor English Language Requirements:

  • Applicants should have Chinese or English language proficiency that meets the requirement.
  • For Chinese–HSK Level 5 (overall 180 or above)

  • IELTS Academic Test: Overall 6.0 or above (no less than 5.5 in each element)
  • TOEFL 80 or above (My best Scores, iBT home edition, Essentials, DI code C317 are accepted)

  • Cambridge Main Suite Examinations(FCE≥169 or CAE≥180 or CPE)
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Applicants for master’s program should be under 30 by September 1st, 2025.
  • Academic Requirement: As of September 1st, 2025, applicants for master’s program must hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Learning Ability: Applicants should have good learning ability and academic performance during scholarships
  • The requirement for previous academic grade level is an average score of 75% and above.
  • For CSC scholarship applicants, the requirement for a previous academic grade level is an average score of 80% and above.
  • Applicants may provide other evidence of academic ability, such as the GRE and GMAT scores.

Masters English Language Requirements:

  • Chinese (HSK Level 5 (200 or above))
  • English
  • IELTS Academic Test overall 6.5 or above (no less than 5.5 in each element)
  • TOEFL 90 or above (My best Scores, iBT home edition, Essentials, DI code C317 are accepted)
  • Duolingo English Test (overall 120 or above)
  • PTE Academic (overall 60 or above)
  • School of Management requires GPA of 80% and above for master applicants.
  • School of Public Policy and Administration requires HSK level 6 (overall 180 or above) for Chinese medium major applicants.
  • Good physical and mental health
  • Applicants for doctoral program should be under 35 by September 1st, 2025.
  • Academic Requirement: As of September 1st, 2025, applicants for doctoral program must hold a master’s degree.
  • Learning Ability: Applicants should have good learning ability and academic performance.
  • Another key point is the requirement for previous academic grade level is an average score of 75% and above. 
  • For CSC scholarship applicants, the requirement for previous academic grade level is an average score of 80% and above.
  • Applicants may provide other evidence of academic ability, such as the GRE and GMAT scores.

PhD English Language Requirements:

  • Chinese: HSK Level 5 (overall 200 or above)
  • English:
  • IELTS Academic Test overall 6.5 or above (no less than 5.5 in each element)
  • TOEFL 90 or above (My best Scores, iBT home edition, Essentials, DI code C317 are accepted)
  • Duolingo English Test (overall 120 or above)
  • PTE Academic (overall 60 or above)
  • School of Management requires GPA of 80% and above for PhD applicants.

Nationality:

  • Nationality Requirements: the applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens with valid passports.
  • For the applicants who used to be Chinese citizens but later immigrated to other countries, these applicants must hold the passports or citizenship certificates of their current countries for at least 4 years in addition to the 2-year “proof of residence” in recent 4 years.
  • Applicants whose one or both parents are Chinese citizens must provide one of the following supporting documents:
  • 1) The certificate proving that the applicant obtained the foreign nationality at birth;
  • 2) For applicants who used to be Chinese citizens but later immigrated to other countries, these applicants shall provide the certificates of cancellation of Chinese nationality.  
  • (1) A copy of the personal information page of your valid passport. Applicants currently residing in mainland China must also provide a scanned copy of the currently valid visa page or residence permit page.
  • (2) A copy of high school diploma (or graduation certificate) and all transcripts.
  • It should be the original documents or be notarized.
  • (3) Personal statement (base on given template) and CVs.
  • (4) Chinese or English language certificate.

Also Includes-

  • Under these circumstance, Language Certificate is not needed:
  • – Applicants who are Chinese native speakers and applying for Chinese medium courses.
  • – Applicants who are English native speakers and applying for English medium courses.

For the applicants who apply for master majors in other schools, acceptance letter is not a must and will be a bonus point.
