The OIST Research Internship Program offers students an exceptional opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects in science and technology at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), Japan. The OIST Graduate School offers education and research opportunities through our Research Internship program in STEM fields. The Internship is typically 3 to 6 months (Between October 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026). These short-term placements allow students to gain experience in a particular laboratory or to learn a specific technique.

OIST is ranked 755th in the world by US News in its Best Global Universities ranking. OIST Research Intern places are awarded twice a year on a competitive basis. Selection is highly competitive and depends on the suitability of the intended research, academic background, available funding, and space.  OIST Research Internship is a fully-funded internship lasts 2–6 months, allowing participants to gain hands-on research experience in a diverse, international environment. Applications are reviewed twice yearly, with the deadline for the 2025 intake being April 15, 2025 (Fall Intake)
