Seoul National University Global Scholarship 2025 in South Korea

The Seoul National University (SNU) Global Scholarship empowers outstanding international graduate students to pursue their degrees in South Korea. It offers either full tuition and a KRW 1.2 million monthly stipend plus one-time airfare (GS 1), or full tuition only (GS 2). It can also include Korean-language training. Eligible students must have at least one semester remaining in their program. The Fall 2025 cycle opens June 23 and closes July 4, 2025.

The Seoul National University Global Scholarship is open to graduate-level students (Master’s) across a wide range of disciplines offered at Seoul National University. The eligible study areas include:

  1. Global Scholarship 1 (GS 1):
    • Full tuition waiver
    • Monthly stipend of KRW 1,200,000
    • One-time airfare support
      • Arrival: Only for newly admitted students entering Korea within 60 days before or after the scholarship announcement
      • Departure: Only for students graduating in Feb 2026 and leaving Korea by March 1, 2026
  2. Global Scholarship 2 (GS 2):
    • Full tuition waiver (no stipend or airfare)
  3. Korean Language Training:
    • Tuition-free evening class (1 session during Fall 2025)
    • Can be combined with GS 1 or GS 2

  • GKS (KGSP) stipend recipients may not apply to this SNU OIA scholarship

  1. Log in to your mySNU account (create one if newly admitted).
  2. Go to:
    • Academic Affairs → Scholarship → Apply/See Status → Apply for Scholarship, or
    • Academic Affairs → My Info → Student Info → Manage Student Services/Activities
  3. Find the SNU Global Scholarship Program notice and click “Apply”.
  4. Fill in your reason for applying and paste the video URL (optional).
  5. Click “Apply” to complete the submission.
  6. Application Period
    • Start: June 23, 2025 (Monday) at 9:00 AM (KST)
    • End: July 4, 2025 (Friday) at 11:00 PM (KST)
    • Mode: Online via mySNU portal

  • Start your English proficiency and academic documents early
  • Seoul average rent: KRW 800,000–1,200,000
  • Food & transportation: KRW 600,000–900,000
  • Total monthly costs: KRW 1.4–2.1 million, depending on lifestyle
  • GS 1 stipend covers these costs comfortably

  1. Can current GKS/KGSP scholars apply?
    No—GKS recipients are ineligible concurrently.
  2. When will results be announced?
    Around early July 2025 (e.g., July 15 for new admits).
  3. Is there a video requirement?
    Not compulsory, but adding a 3–5 min video link may strengthen your application.
  4. Can part-time students apply?
    No—only full-time graduate students with at least one remaining semester are eligible
  5. Can PhD students apply?
    Yes—graduate includes Master’s and PhD candidates.
  6. What if I’m already in Korea early?
    Arrival airfare is granted to new students arriving within 60 days before or after announcement.
