TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2025

The TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowship Programme offers young scientists from developing countries (excluding Pakistan) the opportunity to pursue research toward a PhD in chemical and biological sciences at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) in Karachi, Pakistan. The program is hosted by the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular and Drug Research. Fields of study include organic chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular medicine, pharmacology, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry.

Applicants must already be registered for a PhD in their home country (SANDWICH option). TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowship last between 6 months and a maximum period decided with ICCBS. A monthly stipend covers living expenses but cannot be converted into foreign currency, and English is the language of instruction. Application Deadline: August 14, 2025.

  • Must be 35 years old or younger by 31 December 2025.
  • Must hold a Master’s degree in natural sciences.
  • Must be a national of a developing country (excluding Pakistan).
  • Must not hold a visa for temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country.
  • Must provide a certificate of good health from a qualified medical doctor.
  • Must be a registered PhD student in the home country.
  • Must provide a Registration and No Objection Certificate from the home university.
  • Must submit a Preliminary Acceptance Letter from ICCBS (contact Prof. Dr. Raza Shah with CV, research proposal, and two reference letters).
  • Must show evidence of English proficiency if education was not in English.
  • Must commit to return to the home country after completing the fellowship.
  • Must not undertake other assignments during the fellowship.
  • Must be financially responsible for family members if accompanied
