Extra travel expenses not covered under DAAD regulations

  • Bachelor’s Degree: At least a 6-semester Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a closely related field, with a total of at least 180 ECTS credits.
  • You should have completed at least 150 of these credits at the time of application (83% of your total credits if a different system is used).
  • Course Requirements: At least 60 ECTS credits in Economics, Agricultural Economics, and/or Econometrics.
  • Within these 60 credits, you need at least 30 ECTS credits specifically in Economic Theory, Agricultural Economics, and Development Economics.
  • Level of Study: Out of the 30 credits in Economic Theory, Agricultural Economics, and Development Economics, 18 ECTS should be from intermediate or advanced-level courses (not introductory).
  • Mathematics or Statistics Requirement:
  • At least 12 ECTS credits in Mathematics, Statistics, or Econometrics (beyond any courses counted in the Economics requirement).

Proficiency in English and/or German, depending on the program requirements.

  • Verification of a least one (business) language course at level C1 in the programme on which the application is based upon
  • At least 180 points on the Cambridge English Scale
  • At least 7 points in the test “International English Language Testing System” (IELTS Academic/IELTS Academic Online),
  • At least 95 points in “Test of English as a Foreign Language, internet-based test” (TOEFL iBT/TOEFL iBT Home Edition). ,
  • At least 76 points on the Global Scale of English (Pearson Academic)

  • Two letters of recommendation
  1. Select an eligible program at the University of Göttingen under the DAAD EPOS list.
  2. Apply to the program and indicate interest in the DAAD EPOS Scholarship on the application form.
  3. Fill in the online application form for the Master’s program in Development Economics during the application period and send it by clicking the send button at the end of the form.
  4. Hereafter, you will receive an email with a link to our document upload portal. The email also contains your login data (user name and password) for this upload portal. You will also find two PDF documents in this email: a summary of your data from step 1 and additionally a list with the required application documents that you have to upload (checklist application documents).
  5. Go to the upload portal, enter your user name and password from the email and follow the steps in the upload portal to upload your documents. 
  6. Once the selection procedure is completed, you will receive a reply via email regarding your application. You can expect this possibly six weeks after the end of the application deadline.
  • Clearly explain your motivation and career goals in the context of development in your motivation letter.
  • Ensure all documents are complete, well-organized, and free of errors.
  • Highlight relevant work experience, particularly in fields related to sustainable development.
  • Secure strong letters of recommendation that attest to your skills and commitment.
